Shout out to MOM!

Why is it the first thing that comes out of our mouths? We’ve seen it time and again. At the end of the big game, the camera zooms in, and the athlete says it….”Hi Mom!” Somehow it naturally comes out. In an instant of realizing that this may be their one chance to acknowledge someone to an audience of millions of people the first name that comes out is MOM.

Yea, this is a blog about intentional  fatherhood. But how can you be an intentional father without recognizing the wonder of Moms?

Here’s a great video ESPN put out about the phenomenon of “hi Mom!”:

One important statement in this video is that these athletes have not gotten to where they are  on their power alone. Moms are the chauffeurs, the chefs, the doctors, the agents, and the cheerleaders. We know that Dads share with these responsibilities, but the “normal” family household today still runs by this model. And thank heavens it’s that way in our house! Rachel is a true blessing to our kids and I know that if they ever have that moment with a camera in their faces—even if it’s just a home video–that most likely “hi Mom!” will be the wonderful words that come from their mouths.

So if you haven’t take the time today, tomorrow, or any other day. Give a quick call, send a text, write an email, tweet it out, or do whatever you need to do and say thanks Mom, I love you!

By the way…..hi Mom! Thanks! I love you.

Here’s a great Mother’s Day clip that takes me back to my childhood! I remember getting home by 9pm on Wednesday nights so we could watch Home Improvement before having to go to bed. This one’s for you Mom!

Whew! Great post Simon. Brought a tear to my eye as I’m on the verge of “losing a son”. Moms give & give because we never run out of love for our kids 🙂

    • Thanks Vicki! And don’t forget what we’ve always heard…you’re not losing your son, you’re gaining a daughter. Never running out of love is a good reminder for us as we chase after our 4 crazy ones running and crawling around.
